Sand Dollar Yacht Charters On Blue Hill Bay

Maine islandSail on beautiful Blue Hill Bay aboard the sailing yacht “ADELAIDE”. Adelaide is a lovely, fully equipped 52-foot sail boat, with room for up to six guests.

She is skippered by Captain Peter Niehoff, a Coast Guard Licensed Captain and certified American Sailing Association instructor. Together with his wife, First Mate Beth, they have over 25,000 miles of coastal and offshore experience.

The typical charter begins at our private dock in Brooklin, Maine, only eight miles from Blue Hill, near the islands of Deer Isle and Mount Desert. We offer half-day and full-day charters.

Sunset on the waterOur half-day charter begins at 1:00 pm returning around 5:00 pm. Light refreshments will be served as we discover Blue Hill Bay and its surrounding islands, on a relaxing afternoon sail.

The full-day charter begins at 10:00 am giving us ample time to reach a nearby island. Anchoring in a secluded cove, you may choose to explore the island on foot or by kayak. With the salt air and exercise you will have worked up a hearty appetite. After a leisurely lunch, we will weigh anchor and set sail for the afternoon.

Boat at moringBoth charters, dependant on the coastal Maine weather, offer blue skies and majestic landscapes with plenty of coastal birds and marine life. Seals are our favorite; we almost guarantee a seal sighting. Enjoy the beauty and exhilarating feel of a sailboat under sail. Sheltered in the bay there are no ocean swells, only the unparalleled beauty of the Maine coast. Take the wheel, or just take pictures -- your enjoyment is our goal.

You can’t truly experience Maine without getting out on the water. There is no more enjoyable way to do so than on a private yacht. We promise you’ll fall in love with sailing on our bay, and we will take great pleasure in sharing it with you.

Maine weather is quite variable and on a sailboat the temperatures are more pronounced. We suggest dressing casually and in layers, remembering to bring something warm to put on.

Trees and rocksBoat shoes or tennis shoes with non-marking soles are required as the decks can become slippery.

The Coast Guard requires children under 13 to wear a life jacket while topside and under way. Since children’s sizes vary so much please bring a proper fitting life jacket for any child under 13.

You may want to bring your camera, sunglasses and sunscreen.
